* Advanced Course/Workshop-only option. All Courses and Workshops are residential events with no exception. The Course/Workshop-only option simply provides the opportunity to pay separately for the accommodation+meal portion (e.g. some participants may need to cover this with non-academic funds). The cost for the accommodation+meals part is the difference between the regular cost and the cost for the Course-only option and varies for different participants. If you choose the Course/Workshop-only option, the amount for accommodation and meals must be paid directly to the Certosa di Pontignano. Details will be provided to accepted participants.

Important: The Certosa di Pontignano -venue of the Advanced Courses and Workshops- is a gated structure and access is granted only to registered participants who have also secured accommodation. Registering for the Course/Workshop-only option and booking accommodation outside the Certosa will NOT grant access to the Advanced Course or Workshop.

** Postdoctoral Fellows and Graduate Students Accommodation in double rooms is provided: single occupancy may be requested for an additional charge, if available. Rooms will be shared with one participant of the same sex assigned by the NSAS. Two participants wishing to share the same room may place their request at the time of Registration and Payment.

Alumni are individuals who have previously taken at least one Course at the NSAS. Participants taking two Advanced Courses or Workshops will qualify for the reduced Alumni Rate for the second one.

Graduate Students are individuals who are enrolled in a Graduate Program (University-issued verification of status is required) and have not previously graduated in a Doctorate program. Individuals qualify as Postdoctoral Fellows if within six years of their Doctoral Degree.

 

Travel or other form of support in NOT available to any applicant

The fees will not cover transportation, telephone, laundry and other personal expenses. The fee is fixed regardless of length of stay, length of room occupancy or meals. Remember that time spent together with faculty and other participants fosters effective scientific exchange and stimulates the development of professional networks and scientific collaborations. This is a hallmark of the spirit of the NSAS Advanced Courses and Workshops.

We ask that applicants who have been accepted complete their registration promptly in consideration of other fellow participants who would be otherwise penalized. Registration is complete only after payment in full has been received: this ensures attendance and accommodation. There is no registration and payment on site: accepted participants arriving at an event without having completes and prepaid their registration will not be admitted.

 

Forms of payment

Credit card is the preferred method of payment and instruction for online payment will be emailed to accepted applicants. We do not accept credit card payment over the telephone.

Bank wire transfers are also accepted: details for the transfer will be emailed to accepted applicants. Please be aware that your wire transaction may pass through one or more banks before reaching our account. In many cases, these banks deduct a transaction fee: when a fee (or fees) has been deducted, the amount deposited in our account reflects the deduction(s). The attendee is responsible for any transaction fees.

Participants from Countries within the European Union only may pay by check which must be sent by mail. Instructions will be emailed to confirmed participants. Please allow plenty of time for your check to be cleared by your bank and remember that the registration is complete only after funds have been received: your participation is placed on hold until then.

A registration form not accompanied by payment is not accepted. Please allow a few business days to process your registration. Please do not call or email with confirmation requests.

Receipts: A receipt will be emailed to you short before your Advanced Course or Workshop.

 

Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be in writing and sent via registered mail or courier to:

Cancellations for participants and guests received 14 weeks or earlier before the beginning of a Course or a Workshop will be refunded, less a €150 administrative fee. Cancellations received 14 to 10 weeks before the beginning of a Course or a Workshop will receive a 50% refund, less a €150 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than 10 weeks prior to beginning of a Course or a Workshop and no shows are ineligible for any refunds.
