How do I know if my application has been accepted?

If your application is accepted the NSAS will immediately inform you via email. Information for electronic registration will also be sent to you together with payment information. Please register and pay as soon as possible, in any case before the indicated deadline. Does NSAS provide financial support?

No, unfortunately the NSAS is unable to provide any form of financial support.

What is included in the registration fee?

The Registration Fee includes the cost of registration, all lectures and Course material, accommodation and all meals for the duration of the Course. Typically accommodation begins on Saturday afternoon with checkout on Sunday of the following week. The NSAS Courses are residential courses with no exception and the registration fee is fixed and cannot be prorated.

Are there special student fees?

Yes. Please refer to the Registration and Fees section of our website. Graduate Students are eligible for reduced Registration Fees.

I have been accepted to the Course. How do I register?

Information for electronic registration will be sent to you together with payment information.

Does the NSAS accept credit cards?

Yes, major Credit Cards are accepted.

Does the NSAS accept Purchase Orders as payment?

No.

May I pay by check?

Only participants from Countries within the European Union may pay by check Please note: you should allow plenty of time since your check needs to be cleared by your bank and funds received by the NSAS before you are admitted to the Course.

After completing my registration, will I receive a program or other Course material?

Shortly before the beginning of your Course you will be sent additional information specific to the Course you are attending. The final program will be available at the beginning of the Course onsite when you check in.

I have canceled from a Course and I am eligible for a reimbursement. When can I expect my reimbursement?

All reimbursements are processed 4-8 weeks after the Course.

I sent in my registration and payment. When can I expect to receive a receipt?

Getting there

How do I get to the Course site with public transportation?

Please visit the Travel Information page on the NSAS website for detailed information.

Am I responsible for making and paying for my own transportation arrangements?

Yes. All Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation.

Where can I find information about Cortona and the area?

Please visit the Location and the Activities pages on the NSAS website.

What is appropriate dressing attire for the Course?

All Courses are meant to be conducted in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

What happens if I arrive in Cortona late at night?

If your arrival time is after 8pm please contact your hotel directly in advance. Note that many of the smaller hotels in Tuscany do not allow check in after that time. Information about your accommodation will be emailed to you in advance and you may contact your hotel directly for further assistance.

 

At the course

I am bringing my laptop, can I get an internet connection?

Yes, there will be a wireless connection at the Course site.

Will I need a power adaptor?

If needed, you should bring your own electrical adaptors with you, which is a Type C (CEE 7/16) two-pronged adaptor where the pins are 4mm in diameter. This adaptor is also called a "Europlug". Consider that an international power adaptor will not be easy to find in Cortona.

May I attend only part of a Course?

We strongly discourage partial attendance and in order fully gain from a Course, Participants should attend for the full duration. Should personal circumstances require this, please contact us and let us know.

What happens if I do not attend a Course at the last minute?

Please refer to the Cancellation Policy on the Registration and Fee webpage.

If I have registered on a Course but cannot attend may I send a substitute?

No. Each Participant is individually selected and substitutes are not allowed.

What if I am not able to stay for the entire Course? Can fees be prorated?

The fixed fee will be charged regardless of the length of time a participant attends the Course. Fees cannot be prorated for anyone.

How about handicapped accessibility?

The site is fully handicapped accessible. Please let us know about specific needs.

May I bring my pet to the Course?

Animals are not allowed at the conference site and during meals. Some hotels may accept small pets: please contact us with specific requests.

 

After the Course

Will the facility be open before and after the days of the Course?

The lecture hall and the other NSAS areas will be closed before and after the Course or may be occupied by other activities.

How do I stay longer in Cortona?

If you desire to stay longer in Cortona or in the area you may contact directly your hotel or you may refer to the Activities page of this website.  Tuscany offers an extremely ample variety of accommodations and activities suitable for all taste and all budgets. If needed, we will also be happy to refer you to a local travel service for further info. Please note that the NSAS is unable to assist with individual travel plans.
